Tokyo Joe’s Bar – Bangkok
Unfortunately, this bar has closed, but its YouTube Channel lives on. Worth a visit
as it points to a lot of blues activity in Thailand.

Fronted by Ken “Snowman” Minahan, a Chicago blues guitarist who has lived in Thailand
for over ten years. This is the house band at the Blues Factory in Pattaya, playing
6 nights a week.
Groove Doctors – Phuket
Expat band, resident in Phuket.
Nicolai Kehlet – Bangkok
A real honest-to-goodness modern bluesman from Denmark, now resident in Bangkok.
Nop & Note – Harmonica Boy
Born about 1994, this young Thai harmonica player dazzled attendees at the Asia Pacific
Harmonica Festival in Singapore in August 2010. Many music styles, but a solid blues

Bangkok Acoustic Guitar Celebration
2009 Festival was held at end of October. The 2010 version will be scheduled in
last quarter of year. Follow this Facebook page for information.
Bangkok Blues Club
Formed in April 2009, the club within its first 15 months grew to a membership of
almost 300. Sponsors occasional one-day blues events, including the October Blues
Fest with local and regional talent.
Bangkok Blues Festival
Cancelled in 2010 due to political unrest. Should be back in March 2011. Picks
up some talent from Phuket Blues Festival.
Dynamic, video-oriented website, in Thai, including interviews and “lick library.”
Also has active Facebook page. Similar sites at drummerthai.com and acousticthai.com.
Phuket International Blues Festival
Held annually at end of February. Brings in top US, European and Australian talent.
